Language And Play (LAP)
Language And Play (LAP) is a short programme for parents who have children aged 0-3 years. The LAP programme aims to share ideas and activities over 6 sessions and focuses on communication, language, literacy and play, parents are given the opportunity to share songs, rhymes, and stories with their children.

At Chirk Infants this exciting programme is offered to new Nursery parents and their children for 6 weeks in June and July before their child starts Nursery in the September. It is held in the Early Years classroom and is run by trained school staff. During these session parents and children have the opportunity to meet school staff and become familiar with the school.

Family Learning
This course is for parents of Reception pupils, it shows you what you can do to help your child with their school work. During the course you will have an opportunity to make a special book for your child. Come along and have some fun, there will be a free crèche.

Incredible Years
This is a course to help parents feel:

more in control
enjoy their children
encourage their success at school

The course covers 4 topics:

Play
Praise and encouragement
Setting limits
Handling misbehaviour

The incredible years is a research based Parenting Skills programme written by Dr Carolyn Webster - Stratton.

Coming in January 2008:
A very exciting new club will be starting in January. It is open to all parents and will take place at Chirk Infants every Monday throughout the year between 1-3pm. There will be a free crèche for babies and toddlers. Parents will decide what they would like from the club – we can provide ‘Family Learning’, Language And Play (LAP), Numbers And Play (NAP), Welsh, or perhaps you would like to find out how to make playdough or make something creative. It is up to you, please come along.

Toddlers
Our toddler group meet every Friday morning between 9:15am and 10:15am (term time only) in Chirk Library and sometimes at Chirk Infants.

Come along, have some fun and meet other mums and toddlers.

This group is organised by the Headteachers from Chirk Infants and Ceiriog Junior schools.
